Monday 30th June updates

Hello all,

Sheep are set to come onto site tomorrow! I have cleaned and refilled troughs, put signs on gates and adjusted gate 5 and moved its latch so it's now closing.
Fencelijes checked and all functional.

Contractors will be in all week replacing the Eastern boundary fencing.
I will put up a sign explaining the works becasue this has permanently removed the old gate. When the contractors start the next section in August they will be installing a stile here instead.

The nut bucket is replenished to half full, I am awaiting a devliery to be able t otop it up. But remeber you should not need to rely on the nuts, walking around the flock and calling them over should be enough to spot them all, the nuts are for the trickier situations when they need a little encouragement.

Sunday 28th June

Cut back some overhanging branches & brambles along with other lower foliage on the footpaths. There were no signs of any bonfires having been lit, so all good. Broughton Down was looking lovely in the Summer sunshine with loads of large white, small white & marbled white butterflies enjoying the wildflowers & Dark Green Fritillary. We did spot a new beech tree shoot growing from a very old moss-covered tree stump!!.....Mother nature is amazing.

Sunday 22nd June

All looks good on the Downs, very little rubbish except dog poo bags left to pick up! No evidence of any recent fires and trimming back on footpaths done where needed.

Saturday 14th June

All looks well. I did some strimming on the western compartment as there were quite a few nettles and brambles, so cut back a bit for walkers. Couple off road motorbikes and Tina on her horse going up the bridleway on the west side adjacent to the compartment - didn’t see anyone else.
