Thursday 27 October

 All 32 present, feed getting very low. I also spotted the Meatlink hobbler hanging back. Unfortunately I’m unable to Looker next Thursday.

We will try to come tomorrow to catch and look at the lame sheep. We may not be able to make it as we have a few other things booked in but if not we will be coming early next week.

Wednesday 26 October

 All sheep present but the white Meatlinc is still limping and hanging back. Water ok but feed is down to 25% so needs topping up in say 10 days. No dog walkers seen but recent dog scat in evidence in the west compartment. Nhb

Tuesday 25 October

32 sheep but only 127 working legs this morning as 00107 is very lame front nearside (left). I can't see injury, and he is happy to kneel so may be lower joint or foot. Otherwise all good, walkers at top of hill but  l didn't see any dogs.

Sunday 23 October

 All sheep present & eating. This one (nearest camera) appeared to be limping

All 32 sheep present in tress / bushes by water trough this morning taking shelter from wind and rain!

No problems noted, water trough full and plenty of pellets in bucket.

No dog walkers on Down

Wednesday 19

 Sheep looking well except for 1 Shetland. It was limping and was at the back. Worth keeping an eye on. Some very bold sheep amongst them, I am guessing they were pet lambs! No problem though. Nick

Tuesday 17 October

All sheep came to call. No injuries or lameness observed. A couple a bit standoffish but seemed ok (we all get days when we don't want to join in). No walkers or dogs, but some strimming ( I hope that was Bea and colleagues).

Friday 14th October

 No problems today - 32 sheep, gates and water trough fine. No walkers around (mid-day). Tim Evans

Thursday 13 October

 Autumn colours bathed in golden sunshine. Completely peaceful except for twittering birds & the gentle tearing of grass by the sheep. Approached through gate 14 (not 4 as previously believed- oh the benefit of daylight!). Found all 32 sheep contentedly grazing by gate 8. Trough almost full. Left through gate 15 before ascending the steep climb. Approached a professional dog walker at the bottom of the Down who agreed the sheep signs were clear & who therefore avoided the “open area”. 

Wednesday 12 October

 What a difference a week makes. Nice weather no wind. The sheep were in 2 groups. Group 1 by the west gate and group 2 by the trough. All seem well and healthy. 🐑. No dog walkers seen. Nick HB

Tuesday 11 October

32 sheep in attendance, all look fine gathered near the path to the trough. No walkers or dogs so far. 

Saturday 8th October

 Beautiful sunny afternoon but did not meet a soul. Gates & trough all in good order. 32 sheep looking happy & contented. Tim & Pippa Evans

All 32 sheep came running down the hill immediately called then this morning, all looked in good health and no problems noted to the gates.

No dog walkers on the Down although it was quite early!

Thursday 6 Oct

 Light frost on exposed areas. Heard sheep way before I saw them approaching from Plum Pudding direction, then 32 arrived in one hit. Note to self- ensure I’m up to date with recent blogs! Gates 4 & 5 fine, although another large Beech across path (by Gate 4). No early walkers to approach.

Wednesday 5 October

 Where are those pesky sheep? 🐑 6 sheep came to the bucket but where were the rest. After a sweep of the central block and a call to Bea the rest were found chilling in the area above the quarry on the west side. In the woods it was quiet and out of the wind and weather. A shoot  was going on to the south, and 1 dog walker seen on the upper path. All good.😉

Tuesday 4th October - 13 Meatlink sheep added

Hi all, 

I've added 13 Meatlink sheep to the heard of 19 Shetlands here. Making a total of 32 sheep in the middle compartment. 

They are happily tucking into the grass. 19 shetlands all accounted for.

Tuesday 4 oct

All sheep present and correct and looked in fine fettle. Gates fences and trough all good. No walkers or dogs encountered.

Saturday 1st October

All the sheep were present and correct this afternoon. They all appeared healthy and fine . There was enough water in the trough. John met people walking their dog off the lead in the top woods so he spoke to them and told them about the sheep but they said they were staying on the top but would put the lead on the dog if they went off the path. The fences and gates were fine too. Pippa pp. John & Sue Stafford
