Broughton Down Friday 6th- Post from Nick
Burning beech tree extinguished by fire brigade 1000 litres of water needed. Tree damage Means the tree will need logging up and the fence repairing. Luckily only 1 post and a small section of livestock mesh needed. All 52 sheep checked and accounted for, but I was unable to bring the flock through to the central compartment, so they have the hampshire gate still open

Wednesday 4th September
Mark Redman phoned me to say he saw some smoke coming from the eastern compartment. When he investigated he found a fallen beech tree over our fence that looked healthy and a fire around the base of the tree. After a second visit this afternoon he believes the now just smouldering stump is fairly safe so no need to rush out. If this were St Caths i would say it needs looking at sooner but being a more remote site I think it's ok from his description. I would hope to check this out Thurs or Fri

This time 52 in Central and 6 in West. Managed to get 2 through the gate but the other 4 didn't want to know. Grazing team will come up Thursday and remove the troublesome group.
Water trough is going down, looks like water turned off. Will leave it for now and see if Mark turns it on Wednesday if not I will do it Thurs

All 39 sheep counted, none limping. No other issues noted, no dog walkers. Feed is however running low.
