Wed Sept 25th

All sheep present and looking good. The black water trough is full and the rain has helped with the other one as well. I've fetched the white pot for the nuts from the Central compartment to a hawthorn tree near the black water trough. IT NEEDS FILLING UP as it is difficult for us locals to bring all the sheep together otherwise. Pippa Evans

Broughton Down Friday 6th- Post from Nick

Burning beech tree extinguished by fire brigade 1000 litres of water needed. Tree damage Means the tree will need logging up and the fence repairing. Luckily only 1 post and a small section of livestock mesh needed. All 52 sheep checked and accounted for, but I was unable to bring the flock through to the central compartment, so they have the hampshire gate still open

Wednesday 4th September

Mark Redman phoned me to say he saw some smoke coming from the eastern compartment.  When he investigated he found a fallen beech tree over our fence that looked healthy and a fire around the base of the tree. After a second visit this afternoon he believes the now just smouldering stump is fairly safe so no need to rush out. If this were St Caths i would say it needs looking at sooner but being a more remote site I think it's ok from his description.  I would hope to check this out Thurs or Fri
