Friday 30th August

Found the 5 sheep in West (again) but managed to get them through the Hampshire gate. Have asked grazing team of they can be removed -215, 217, 314 and 122. The fifth one would not let  me get close enough so see tag.

Once together I counted 58 sheep. There was one smaller sheep that appeared separate from the rest but it seemed well  so not sure what's up.

Trough is full

Wed. August 14th

4.00 pm. Approached from the NW corner. Found two escape artists in the West comp. managed to get them through the Hampshire gate. Numbers 217 and could only read 15 but imagine it was 215 (had small horns). Altogether 58  and the trough full.
We think maybe they are getting under the Hampshire gate so have put logs across. Perhaps hammer in the intermediate posts ?

Sat. & Sun August 10th & 11th

Sat. All sheep fine and trough full.
Sun. The sheep were tucked away in the shade. Quite a few visitors looking at butterflies & flowers and they did not count as they didn't want to cause a disturbance. Found one sheep in the West compartment and managed to get it back to central - couldn't read the tag number.

If more escape please see if you can note the tag number to aee if it's the same 4.

Wed August 7th

Nut container was out in Redman's field obviously interfered with by Mark's sheep. Called sheep which came in two batches. As far as could tell approx. 58. Wedged pot of nuts in fork of hawthorn tree approx. 5m from trough, water level full. Left half the flock grazing by silver birch trees other half were congregated by the Hampshire gate, which was secure.  Tim Evans

Tuesday 7th August

Checked sheep and managed to count them all this time. Somehow managed to get them all through to Central and shut the Hampshire gate. Woohoo!

We have also put a heavier weight on the gate next to plumb pudding in the hope of preventing sheep from getting through there.

Pippa and Tim - I hope o have turned on the stop cock for the water trough but please can you confirm if the trough is filling up ? Thanks

Sat/Sun August 3rd /4th

Sat: The weekend wardens saw 3 sheep. Sunday: noticed that all the sheep were in the Western compartment. Counted about 55 - difficult as they were in the wood on the left having gone through the Hampshire gate and then the sheep shot into the long undergrowth up the dell. Nothing untoward to report. Pippa

Friday 2nd August

Returned to see the sheep today . Tried to move them back to Central but they didn't want to go.

I did leave some water containers next to the trough in West but due to the hot weather it is better to let them have access to Central as well as the trough there is mains fed.

Thursday 1st August

The grazing team were unable to get the sheep back through to the central comp.  They still have access to both central and West.

I will go up tomorrow and see if I can keep them in West and take water up there.
